Vice President of Malawi Joyce Banda requested the help of Melissa Kushner, Founder and Executive Director of Goods for Good, to help her secure essential medical equipment for under-resourced health centers in Malawi.

Ms. Banda, who was appointed Malawi’s Goodwill Ambassador for Safe Motherhood and recently received the Unita Blackwell award for her outstanding contribution to women’s empowerment, will be adopting 8 under-resourced health centers per year. She is currently working to secure critical medical equipment such as bicycle ambulances, telephones, scales, thermometers and mosquito nets for these centers as well as refurbish maternity wings, lobby for family planning services and advocate for increased awareness about maternal and newborn health.
